Throughout his busy career as teacher, choir director, performer and composer, Bach demonstrated a keen ability to rework compositions for varying instrumentation, sometimes in an effort to present material in a new light, and sometimes as a measure of practicality and frugality. This program features a series of works inspired by Bach's own transcriptions, relying on both the creative vision of the performers as well as 18th century sources.
